Ryan Ford Beats Tommy Speer

Ryan Ford defeats Tommy Speer via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 4:29 of Round 1. I will be going to Ryan's wedding soon in Mexico so i am happy that we are heading there on a win, no one wants a grouchy wedding lol!

Here is a quote from my friends at www.topmmanews.com

During the post fight interview which was barely audible due to the deafening roar of the crowd. Chants of UFC could be heard and Kris Labelle states that Ryan Ford cou ld be one of the best Welterweights in North America. Ryan Ford dedicates the fight to his late Grandma who recently passed away.

What's next for Ryan?

ZUMA Team shut outs

Congrats goes out to all our ZUMA fighters (Josh Sponge, Nick Dreidger, Diego Wilson)  and people who have been helping them train. Our fighters won all their fights at AFC 2, winning all fights in the first round. Having the team go 3-0 gave us great momentum going into the KOTC fights.

We had four fighters competing in KOTC, Greg Church, Tarek Gabali, Ryan Janes and Gavin Neil who was fighting for the KOTC Canadian Lighteight championship. Again the ZUMA fighters won all their fights, and Gavin left the arena with a new belt. After his fight i was pretty sure he was gonna cry but i think he could tell that when i hugged him he better not cry or i would poke him in the eye!!

Sarah Kaufman wins 2 awards

I want to congratulate my student and friend Sarah Kaufman for winning 2 more awards that i think she deserved. Sarah recently won female fighter of the year and best female bantamweight fighter. I also feel confident saying that if there was an award for whitest female fighter of the year she would have won 3 awards, maybe they will add that category next year. I look forward to working with Sarah in the New Year and I hope she gets to fight as much as possible!!

Sarah Kaufman Wins the Strikeforce Title

Congratulations to our own Sarah Kaufman who fought for Strikeforce this past friday. Sarah is the first women to win the 135lbs Strikeforce world title, in a very dominant victory against Takayo Hashi from Japan. Although Sarah was disappointed that she did not get to finish the fight early I thought she executed an amazing game plan. Sarah is really excited to get back to training and keep improving her skills!!!

Sarah Kaufman #1 in the WORLD

As most of you know i am in Edmonton at the moment for Ryan Ford's world title fight. Ryan is in the process of cutting weight, and the cut has been going better then it ever has. I will keep you all posted about his fight which is on Saturday.

I am also very excited to tell everyone that our own Sarah Kaufman has just been ranked the number one bantam weight female fighter in the world by WAMMA. I am so excited to see Sarah get the recognition she deserves, and i hope we all get to see her prove her skills again very soon. If you would like to see the ranking you can follow this link:
